About UCC

Opened in 2006, the $116 million UCC in Washington D.C., successfully brought the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department, Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency, and the Mayor's Citywide Call Center under one roof for the first time. This integration of personnel, equipment, and technology has shaved precious seconds off emergency response times and streamlined communications by reducing unnecessary duplication of dispatch resources. It has also enhanced coordination among the numerous municipal and federal public safety entities operating in Washington, D.C.

Intergraph technology plays a key role in UCC operations by providing its state-of-the-art computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system to manage incoming emergency calls. The UCC also uses Intergraph's mobile technology to dispatch the closest unit to an incident using GPS locators, perform silent dispatch, and enable event routing — all through the CAD system. The UCC standardized on Intergraph's CAD based on its rich functionality, affordability, and ease of implementation.
